Quietude
Vítor Joaquim with João Silva

22.08.2026 | 20:15
Quietude arises from a prolonged stay in a place and the time needed to inhabit it. The piece originated from an artistic residency at Casa do Paço, a space permeated by memory, landscape, and the literary presence of Agustina Bessa-Luís. Breathing in the house, walking its paths, and listening to the valley became part of the creative process.
From this experience emerges a soundscape constructed from attentive listening to what normally goes unnoticed. The trumpet's breath, the breathing, the silences, and the sounds transformed by electronics prolong the place in time, summoning a slow and suspended immersion. Quietude, The music unfolds on the threshold between sound and silence. As in Agustina's writing, reality and fiction merge, and the listener becomes part of this shared presence, where everything seems to breathe simultaneously.
